What is Medigap / Supplemental Insurance?

What is Medigap or Supplemental insurance and what kind of coverage does it offer?

This option is available from private insurance companies and the coverage helps pay out-of-pocket costs not covered by Medicare Parts A & B.

Also known as Medigap, Medicare Supplement insurance covers the 20% of costs not covered by Original Medicare. It does not cover prescription drug costs (Part D) and typically does not cover any additional benefits like dental, vision or hearing.

There are several different levels of Medicare Supplement coverage depending on your needs and budget. Note:  if you are on a Medicare Advantage plan, you cannot also have a Medicare Supplement plan.
